The Fort Sumter - Fort Moultrie Historical Trust (Trust) formed as a trust organization to aid the National Park Service, Fort Sumter National Monument in 2001. A 501(c) (3) status was granted to the Trust in a letter dated March 13, 2001. With this status in place, the National Park Service recognized the Trust as an organization well suited to aid the Park in increasing community support and public participation in achieving Park goals.
The National Park Service continues to cooperate with the Trust as it undertakes support activities for the benefit of the Park, including the preservation, enhancement, use, understanding, and enjoyment of public resources for present and future generations.
The Trust intends to support the National Park Service in completing projects that fulfill the National Park Service goals of preserving natural, cultural, and historic resources, directly and through public education, interpretation, enjoyment, and participation efforts, including fostering of stewardship ethics; and to donate to the National Park Service funds, materials, and services in pursuit of these goals.
