Friends of Charleston National Parks is a non-profit organization dedicated to preserving and promoting the rich history of several iconic national treasures – Fort Sumter in Charleston Harbor, Fort Moultrie on Sullivan’s Island, The Charles Pinckney National Historic Site, and the Charleston Light on Sullivan’s Island.

As the official philanthropic partner of Fort Sumter and Fort Moultrie National Historical Park and Charles Pinckney National Historic Site, Friends of Charleston National Parks (Friends) inspires appreciation and support for the National Park Service sites located in the Charleston communities. Your generous donation supports education and preservation efforts at Fort Sumter, Fort Moultrie, U.S. Coast Guard Historic District at Sullivan’s Island, including Charleston Light, and Charles Pinckney. The Friends are building a broad network of philanthropic supporters dedicated to committing their financial resources to preserve and engage people in the park. The Friends and NPS work together to develop partnership projects and programs that address park priorities and have the potential to generate philanthropic support.

March 22 | A Campfire Conversation: Black Voices Who Built America

7:00 – 9:00 PM

Join us for a thoughtful discussion about the origins of The Slave Dwelling Project with its founder on Fort Moultrie’s historic grounds. We’ll be sitting around a campfire and engaging in conversation with Joseph McGill, Jr. and Herb Frazier about their mission to change the narrative of where enslaved people lived. Bring your own folding chairs. S’mores will be provided for an evening under the stars to honor the Black voices who built America at Fort Moultrie.
